Various configurations of brake lines were used on mopar vehicles from 1968 to 1970 and selecting which style you need can be confusing. To correctly identify which style lines you need, reference the below picture(s).

Some front brake line kits reference a metering valve.  The metering valve is depicted below.  Some cars use a metering valve, and some don’t.  ALL CARS WILL HAVE A DISTRIBUTION BLOCK (or “master cylinder tee and safety switch”, as depicted below).  Some cars will use a metering valve and no proportioning valve.  Some cars will use a proportioning valve and no metering valve.  Some cars will use both valves.

If your car has a proportioning valve, it will imply your car uses a 2 piece front to rear brake line, as the proportioning valve is installed in between the 2 pieces.

1968 – 1970 brake line part #’s explained:

HEMI:

QRB2** – 1968 – 1970, Hemi (usually) w/power disc brakes.  INCLUDES 5 LINES.
THIS KIT IS FOR CARS THAT USE A 2 – PIECE FRONT TO REAR  BRAKE LINE and have A METERING VALVE.

QRB33** – 1968 – 70 Hemi, w/ power drum brakes.  Four piece kit. Right hand cross over line passes under the frame.

Non-Hemi – drum brakes:

QRB1** – 1968 – 70 B-body with standard or power drum brakes.

THE RIGHT HAND CROSSOVER LINE OF THIS SET PASSES UNDER THE FRAME.

QRB3** – 1968 – 70 B-body with standard or power drum brakes.

THE RIGHT HAND CROSSOVER LINE CROSSES THE FIREWALL AND PASSES THRU THE RIGHT HAND INNER FENDER.

QRB1 & QRB3 are similar, except for the shape of the crossover line.  4-piece kit, LH master cylinder exit. Power or standard drum brakes.

Non-Hemi, power disc brakes:

QRB4** – 1968 – 1970 B-body w/ power disc brakes.

Very uncommon in 1968 – used primarily during 1969 to 1970.  5-piece kit.  Master cylinder lines exit LH side toward inner fender.  for cars WITH metering valve AND NO proportioning valve (i.e. 1-piece front to rear line).

QRB5** – 1968 – 1970 B-body w/ power disc brakes.

PRIMARILY USED ONLY IN 1968 – this kit is for cars that use a proportioning valve (2-piece front to rear line) and NO METERING VALVE.  4-piece kit.  Lines exit master cylinder on LH side.

QRB6** – 1968 – 1970 B-body w/ power disc brakes.

5-piece kit. Master cylinder lines exit RH side.  For cars WITH metering valve AND NO proportioning valve (i.e. 1-piece front to rear line)

QRB96** – 1968 – 1970 B-body w/ power disc brakes.

4-piece kit. This kit is for cars that use a proportioning valve (i.e. will have a 2-piece front to rear line) and NO METERING VALVE.  Lines exit master cylinder on RH side.

THE LH & RH FRT BRAKE LINES HAVE RED 7/16- 24 FITTINGS ON THE BLOCK END AND GOLD 3/8-24 FITTINGS ON THE FLEX LINE END. THE LINE THAT ATTACHES TO THE FRONT PORT OF THE MASTER CYLINDER HAS A PURPLE 1/2-20 FITTING & THE END THAT ATTACHES TO THE DISTRIBUTION BLOCK IS A BLACK 1/2-20 FITTING.  THE LINE THAT ATTACHES TO THE REAR PORT OF THE MASTER CYLINDER HAS A BLUE 9/16-20 FITTING & THE END THAT ATTACHES TO THE DISTRIBUTION BLOCK HAS A GOLD 3/8-24 FITTING.  ALL FITTINGS ARE ZINC-DICHROMATE PLATED.
